Everything an instructor needs
Syllabus-driven matching
Reading assignments come straight from your syllabus. Students are matched around the texts you assign, on the timeline you set.
QR code enrollment
No complicated sign-up forms. Students scan a single QR code and join. Works on any phone, no app download required.
Small groups, real discussion
Students are placed in groups of 2–4. Small enough for genuine conversation — not a lecture, not a seminar of 30.
Schedule-aware
Agora asks students when they are free and matches them accordingly. Groups meet when everyone can actually show up.
Instructor dashboard
See which students have joined, how groups are forming, who is reading, and how many pages your class has logged — all in one place.
Built for the humanities
Philosophy, literature, history, theology, political theory — Agora Class is purpose-built for close reading and dialogue.
Step by step
How Agora Class works
Create your class
Instructors sign up and create an Agora Class — name it, add the course details, and set the term dates.
Upload your syllabus & roster
Upload your syllabus so students see the readings. Optionally upload your class roster to pre-approve enrollment.
Share your class QR code
Agora generates a unique QR code for your class. Project it on the first day, put it on your syllabus, or share the link.
Students scan & join
Students scan the QR code with their phone, create an Agora account (or sign in), and are instantly enrolled in the class.
Get matched into reading groups
Once at least 7 students have joined, Agora matches them into small reading groups based on their schedules, reading pace, and preferences — just like regular Agora, but within your class.
For students
Join your class in seconds.
Your instructor will share a QR code — scan it with your phone and you are in. Agora matches you with a small group of classmates to read and discuss together, in person, on a schedule that works for everyone.
Scan to join
Your instructor will display a QR code. Scan it — that is all it takes.

Frequently asked questions
Is Agora Class free?
Yes. Agora Class is free for both instructors and students. No institutional license, no per-seat fee.
Is there a minimum class size?
Yes. Agora Class requires a minimum of 7 students before reading groups can be formed. This ensures there are enough students for meaningful small-group matching.
Do students need to download an app?
No. Agora works in the browser. Students scan the QR code, sign up (or sign in), and they are enrolled. The mobile app is optional but recommended.
Can I control what my students read?
Absolutely. You upload your syllabus and Agora uses it to structure the reading groups. Students read what you assign, on the schedule you set.
What if a student is not on the class roster?
You can choose to make your class open (anyone with the QR code can join) or restricted (only students on your uploaded roster).
Where do the reading groups meet?
That is up to you and your students. Groups can meet at Agora partner venues, on campus, or wherever works. The key is that it is in person.
How is this different from regular Agora?
Regular Agora matches readers from the general public. Agora Class keeps matching within your enrolled students, using your syllabus and your timeline.
