Welcome to Agora. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Agora website, mobile application, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By accessing or using Agora, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. About Agora
Agora is a platform designed to help users connect through reading, discussion, and participation in local events centered on books, ideas, and intellectual conversation.
Agora facilitates introductions and event coordination but is not responsible for the conduct, statements, actions, or behavior of individual users, venues, or event hosts.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Services.
By using Agora, you represent that:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- The information you provide is accurate.
- You will comply with these Terms and all applicable laws.
3. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password.
You agree not to:
- Impersonate another person.
- Create multiple deceptive accounts.
- Share your account credentials.
- Provide false or misleading information.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Community Standards
Agora exists to encourage thoughtful conversation and intellectual engagement.
Users agree not to:

- Engage in discriminatory conduct.
- Post unlawful, defamatory, or abusive content.
- Disrupt events or discussions.
- Use the platform primarily for commercial solicitation.

Disagreement is welcome. Personal attacks are not. We reserve the right to remove content or users that undermine the safety and integrity of the community.
5. In-Person Meetings and Events
Agora facilitates connections between individuals who may choose to meet in person.
By participating in any event, reading group, or meetup, you acknowledge that:
- Participation is voluntary.
- You assume all risks associated with attending in-person gatherings.
- Agora does not conduct background checks on users.
- Agora cannot guarantee the safety, conduct, or suitability of any participant.
Users are responsible for exercising reasonable judgment and personal safety precautions.
6. Venue Relationships
Participating cafés, bookstores, libraries, bars, and other venues are independent businesses.
Agora does not control:
- Venue operations
- Venue policies
- Venue staff
- Venue availability
Any transactions between users and venues are solely between those parties.
7. Intellectual Property
All Agora branding, logos, designs, content, software, graphics, and materials are the property of Agora or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may not:
- Copy or reproduce Agora content without permission.
- Use Agora trademarks without authorization.
- Reverse engineer or attempt to replicate the platform's proprietary features.
8. User Content
You retain ownership of content you submit to Agora.
By posting content, you grant Agora a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content for purposes related to operating and promoting the Services.
You are solely responsible for content you submit.
9. Privacy
Your use of Agora is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have reviewed the Privacy Policy.
10. Disclaimers
The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
Agora makes no guarantees regarding:
- User compatibility
- Event attendance
- Discussion quality
- Venue participation
- Platform availability
We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Agora, its owners, employees, contractors, affiliates, and representatives shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from:
- Use of the Services
- Participation in events
- Interactions with other users
- Interactions with venues
- User-generated content
Your use of Agora is at your own risk.
12. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Services at any time and for any reason, including violations of these Terms.
Users may terminate their accounts at any time.
13. Modifications
We may modify these Terms from time to time.
Updated Terms will be posted on the website with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of any changes.
